Cheques are Changing. Are you ready?

The Canadian Payments Association (CPA) is leading a national industry-wide initiative to modernize Canada’s cheque clearing system. As a result all cheques must adhere to the new format by June 30, 2007, including BMO InvestorLine AccountLink cheques.

The main benefits include faster account reconciliation and shorter holds on deposited cheques.

How do I know if my cheques adhere to the new format?

If you ordered new AccountLink cheques after April 2005 your cheques already meet the new standards.

If your cheques were ordered prior to April 2005, you can order new cheques1 by:

  Visiting any BMO Bank of Montreal branch
   Calling Direct Banking at 1 800 363-9992 or visiting Online banking (bmo.com)
  Calling BMO InvestorLine directly at 1 888 776-6886
